STEM is about to get a whole lot spookier! Take a break from the costume-making and scary movie marathons for a little family craft time. Last October, we released the HEXBUG DIY Halloween XL Mechanical Decals, this year we’re releasing even more! HEXBUG DIY Halloween Series 2 XL Mechanical Decals contain five brand-new characters, perfectly frightening for fall. Give your XL Mechanical a fun costume this year as you maneuver these bugs around your home to scare your loved ones! In this HEXHUB DIY we’ll tech you how to apply these creative skins. Decal designs include: Black Cat, Bride of Frankenstein, Jack-O’-Lantern, Sea Creature, and Werewolf. Select a decal, print and adhere these cool, imaginative looks to your favorite robotic bugs!
Before you begin: You may need an adult’s help with cutting and printing.
- HEXBUG Scarab XL or Spider XL Mechanical ($37.99 – $38.99 per unit, hexbug.com)
- Staples Sticker Paper (70972) ($13.49, staples.com)
- Westcott 7” Stainless Steel Scissors ($6.99, staples.com)
STEP 1: Load your printer with the Staples sticker paper. Make sure it’s in correctly; this will be the basis of your DIY decal.
STEP 2: Download Halloween Decal PDF and select your favorite skin. Don’t worry too much about choosing which one you should print – there should be enough paper to make more than one, if you change your mind later.
STEP 3: Ask an adult if you need assistance and use scissors to carefully cut out your desired design.
STEP 4: Cut along the dotted lines as featured above, so your decal lays perfectly flat on top of your bug.
STEP 5: Peel your design from its paper backing and apply it to your Scarab or Spider Mechanical.
STEP 6: Share your results! Use the hashtag “#HEXDIY” and tag us in your photo on Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter!
