Want to experience a mini spa without leaving your home? Bath bombs are a fun addition to any relaxing bath. If you’ve never heard of a “bath bomb” before, they’re tightly packed spheres made from soothing materials, like Epsom salts, baking soda, and essential oils. They’re often brightly colored, exude calming scents and fizz upon being dropped in bathwater. In 2016 and 2017 bath bombs have proven to be very trendy on social media, people love watching them explode the second they submerge. We at HEXBUG DIY have devised our very own take on bath bombs, with a twist.

Materials Needed:

- Fox Run Craftsman Non-Stick 6 Cup Large Muffin Pan ($21.50, walmart.com)
- Baking Soda ($0.54, walmart.com)
- 2 jars of Cream of Tartar ($2.98 each, walmart.com)
- Lavender-Scented Epsom Salt ($1.98, walmart.com)
- Gold ‘n Flavor Canola Oil ($1.98, walmart.com)
- Lavender Scented Essential Oil ($6.99, walmart.com)
- Neon! Food Coloring ($3.48, walmart.com)
- 2 large Mixing Bowls
- Chef Craft Silicone Mixing Spoon ($6.98, walmart.com)
- Shells (Optional for decoration)
STEP 1:
Stir all the dry ingredients together in a large mixing bowl (½ cup Lavender-Scented Epsom Salts, ½ cup Cream of Tartar, 1 cup Baking Soda). Stir the wet ingredients together in a separate bowl (2 tablespoons of Canola Oil, 4-5 drops of Lavender Scented Essential Oil).
STEP 2:
Slowly add the wet mixture into the large bowl of the dry mixture, while continuously stirring. Mix substance until the contents of your bath bombs look like wet sand.
STEP 3:
Add 4-5 drops of food coloring to the mixture and stir even more. This will give your bath bombs a beachy speckled effect. You can select any color you like, we used red and blue to make purple!
STEP 4:
Roll a handful-sized ball of bath bomb contents in the palm of your hand. Unpackage your HEXBUG AquaBot and add it to the center of the ball. Roll the AquaBot into a ball until the AquaBot is completely concealed. Repeat for as many bath bombs as you’d like to make!
STEP 5:
Coat the inner sides of your muffin tin with Canola Oil, this will make it so the bath bombs won’t stick to the tin once they’re dry. Pack each ball into a muffin tin indentation. Make sure the contents are spread out in the tin so each individual bath bomb is now flat. Let your bath bombs dry for 6-8 hours. Add a shell on top for decoration if you like!
STEP 6:
Pop out your bath bombs and enjoy HEXBUG AquaBot fun. Share your results! Use the hashtag “#HEXDIY” and tag us in your photo on Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter!
