The HEXBUG product line was listed as the #1 toy on Wyoming Tribune Eagle’s Top Toy List for 2009.

Like the popular Zhu Zhu Pets Hamsters, HEXBUGs are robots, but Innovation First International has science and math education in mind for the children playing with these toys. The mission of HEXBUGs is to inspire children to play with robots and from that play spur further interest in science, technology, engineering and math.

It’s My Life has reviewed the Nano.

My husband and I were pitting them against each other and I felt like a kid again. We were so engrossed in our competition that before I knew it, an hour had passed. It was fun to watch them and see how they react to different objects. I kept wishing that they would spring to life and start talking.

It was interesting to see how he interacted with the Nano. By altering the maze he watched intently how the robot adjusted. He’d coach it saying, “You can do it, Bristlebot!” Or he’d direct it saying, “Go that way!” The robot can’t hear or understand him however, and would just vibrate whichever way it was going to go bouncing off Duplos along the way.

This is one of the cutest bugs I have ever seen and you won’t hear me saying that too often! It is also super hyper which is something that has brought a lot of laughter to my kids, especially my toddler. She loves turning it on and setting it down only to chase after it laughing and screaming the whole time. It has provided her with hours of entertainment. It zips around and around so fast that its hard to catch sometimes, which just cracks everyone who is watching you. While I think it is a wonderful toy for my toddler (used with supervision of course) I want to share with you a huge plus to this product in my eyes.
